I was greatly pleased to learn the news en route for Malawi, that Chifundo UK is now registered as a charity! This should open up some doors for fund raising.
So far I have visited 3 outlets and have another three to do. It is always a learning exercise and there have been a few quality control issues. However, Alice and I are taking the Group Leaders and the Tailors to African Habitat here in Blantyre to see the competition and why this is such an important issue.
There are some practical issues to be sorted out, but the most pressing need is to strengthen the Chanasa Trustees and to find a chair woman who can offer real leadership, have the ability to work with others, who has a real interest in the work and who will care about the wellbeing of the charity. I just don't know yet how I am to meet her but I am trying to make new contacts and to explore all possibilities.
Today I am meeting two SOKO graduates in an attempt to help the start of an Alumni and to find out what the women are now doing. I have also made contact with Soroptimists and a few ladies are coming to the Chanasa Women's meeting this Saturday.
Good wishes to everyone - Susan
