The Wilmslow URC Supper and Mini Fashion Show took place on Wednesday 20 May February 2015.  The evening began with a presentation about Chifundo UK and Chanasa by Susan Flynn.  This was followed by "supper in a basket" which included Mbatata cookies prepared to a Malawian recipe by one of the ladies at Wilmslow URC Church.  Everyone then moved across the church itself for the fashion show and sales of Chifundo clothing.

Five members of Chifundo UK then modelled clothing and accessories.    The clothing was all made from up cycling charity shop items by embellishing them with chitenge (African fabric) or Tanzanian waxed cotton.  The accessories such as bags, necklaces, and bangles had mostly been made in Malawi and again used African fabrics.  After the fashion show there was the opportunity to purchase items from the Chifundo sales stand.  

Thanks go to all those who organised and took part in the evening, especially Wilmslow URC Church for their warm welcome and hospitality.  £327 was taken in sales on the stall.  Together with a donation from Wilmslow URC Church from the ticket money, this will made a fantastic contribution to the work of Chifundo & Chanasa in empowering women in Malawi.
